Application to this online MBA is simple

Following are the admission requirements for the JSU MBA in HR Management online.

  • Complete the online application
  • Pay a $35 nonrefundable application processing fee
  • Submit official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended
  • Applicants must meet one of the following combinations:
    • Unconditional Admission
      • Bachelor's degree with a 3.0 GPA or higher from an AACSB-accredited business program
      • Bachelor's degree with a nonbusiness major and a 3.0 GPA or higher from an institutionally accredited institution plus:
        • Three years of professional work experience or a GMAT score of 400 or higher
        • Completion of the undergraduate foundation courses equivalent to BA 500: Statistics and Quantitative Methods, BA 502: Contemporary Economic Fundamentals and BA 511: Concepts of Accounting and Finance
    • Conditional Admission*
      • Applicants with an overall 2.75 GPA or higher or a 3.0 GPA on the last 30 hours will be considered for admission if one of the following conditions is met:
        • Three years of professional work experience or a GMAT score of 400 or higher
        • Graduate degree from an institutionally accredited institution

Adequate professional work experience will be determined by an evaluation of the applicant’s résumé by a committee of the graduate faculty.

*Students who are granted conditional admission must achieve a GPA of at least 3.00 on the first 12 graduate hours attempted within the time frame specified in the student’s admission letter. Failure to comply will result in the student being dropped from the program.

JSU Graduates

Jacksonville State University graduates can be accepted for entry into the program without submitting an official GMAT score if their graduating GPA is at least 3.0 and they have satisfied the undergraduate equivalents of the foundation courses listed under the Foundation Courses section.

4+1 Program Applicants

Jacksonville State University applicants admitted under the 4+1 program who have an undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or higher can receive a GMAT waiver.

All applicants who are admitted to the MBA program but do not have adequate undergraduate business preparation will be required to complete up to nine semester hours of foundation business and/or economics courses. These courses can be found under the Foundation Courses section. Applicants who have not fulfilled the undergraduate equivalents of these foundation courses will be admitted on a conditional basis.

All applicants who are admitted to the MBA program but do not have adequate undergraduate business preparation will be required to complete up to 9 semester hours of foundation courses as follows:

Quantitative methods and statistics as applied to business and economics; topics include optimization, descriptive statistics, probability theory, sampling and statistical inference, hypothesis testing, regression and correlation analysis, and analysis of variance.

Students will learn microeconomic and macroeconomic concepts. Topics include demand and supply analysis, firm structure, macroeconomic data, and analysis of macroeconomic models.

Examines the essential concepts of financial reporting, budgeting and analysis for decision making. Topics include: understanding financial information, analysis of financial statement, budgeting and capital investment, and financing strategies.

This course offers a broad coverage of economic, political, social, and cultural issues that challenge traditional management wisdom. This course is divided into three sections. In the first section, the history and theory of management will be briefly revisited, a step necessary for understanding the context of current management issues. The second section introduces widely discussed management issues related to business strategy. Lastly, the third section taps into several contemporary challenges pertinent to the management of workforce.

(Capstone) This course examines the tools and techniques of strategic analysis, including the formulation and implementation of competitive and corporate strategy for creating and sustaining competitive advantage.

Managerial Economics teaches managers to use the tools of microeconomic theory to make business decisions. These tools include supply and demand, various types of elasticity, production, costs, and maximizing profit/minimizing losses in perfect and imperfect competition.

This course presents a comprehensive, integrative, and practical focus on leadership and management. It is based upon a framework that analyzes leadership and management from different angles: the personal side, social aspect, power and politics, and strategic leadership. The course presents leadership theories/concepts that have emerged over the past several decades. It provides students the opportunity to apply these theories through case analysis and to enhance personal skill development through self-assessment exercises. Included in the course are identification of current leaders and leadership as well as contemporary perspectives on ethics, networking, coaching, organizational culture, diversity, learning organizations, strategic leadership, and crisis leadership.

A self-directed, executive-level analysis of marketing strategies involved in market segmentation, pricing, promotion, product development, and distribution channels. This course focuses on business-level marketing strategy and uses the marketing planning process as the framework for understanding the integration and coordination of marketing decisions. You will develop skills in creating and evaluating marketing plans, strategies, and implementation programs so that you will be better prepared to manage the marketing problems you will encounter in your profession.
